(you and i) held in an ancient echo — 2025
TC2 weaving of a photograph I took while driving through the Arizona desert, clay, found stones, pewter spill, crocheted wool motif, fabric dyed with black walnuts gathered from around my studio, poem written in ink made from those same black walnuts
65” x 44” x 38”
The poem reads:
I said one of life's heaviest goodbyes
then drove for hours without you
down the coast
and through the desert
I drove until hot, arid earth turned lush and green
vast expanses of bedrock suddenly dense with trees
standing there, at the edge of two worlds
I looked down at a stone
and saw you
bright under the soft caress of sunlight and shadow
in seeing you I began to see me too
our togetherness held in an ancient echo
