AN OBJECT LANGUAGE — 2018

A collection of works developed while in residence at Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts, located on the site of an abandoned brick factory in Newcastle, Maine. Each object pictured was made using Watershed’s local clay body, dug with my own hands from the ground beneath Watershed’s studios. Each a replication of various objects found around the residency site, these sculptures were made in an attempt to tap into the energy and history of Watershed through a kind of tactile dialogue. The photographs capture the object replicas in and around Watershed’s studios. They are all I took with me, residue of words and phrases born of an object language.
